On day 6 of the “To The Wood”
STEMersion, we went to Eastwood MetroPark and did some fun activities here.
First, our group went hiking a little in the Buckeye Trail. We came across
plants and trees which gave the trail its name, Buckeye. We almost came across
a lot of poison ivy. I also notice some birds diving down in the water, like a
plane that was about to crash, yet glide its wing across the liquid surface
then up again. Walking along the trail, we notice a lot of unusual fungus.

Walking back to main base, we ate
some food and ready to go kayaking.
In the afternoon, we hit the water
and explore in a river nearby. Kayaking might seem easy at first, but doing it
is another story. I was having lots of trouble keeping by boat straight.
Going around the river, I noticed
many variety of branches swimming in the water, as if trying to become an
obstacle for me to past, which it did! One time, I even got stuck above a large
block of wood because I didn’t have enough momentum to go past it. However,
kayaking allowed me to have fun with the water. As I paddle back-and-forth, I could
sometimes glide me hand across the cold surface. It felt very refreshing,
chilling, and calm, as if the water is trying to relief me.
After the kayaking experience is
over, we traveled back to our school.
